Should I use hot or cold pack?



Hot pack

-Used for chronic pain relating to muscle aches, headache and joint stiffness.

-Helps improve blood circulation by dilating blood vessels.

-Helps promote muscle relaxation and soft tissue healing.

If you have the following conditions you will most likely benefit from hot pack:


-Stiff shoulder, neck or lower back

It is Proven:

A research study done by K.Okada et al (2015) suggests that hot pack therapy can increase regional blood flow of the muscles which does not only help muscles relax but helps with repair and healing.


Cold pack


-For injuries and acute pain relating to inflammation/swelling.

-Helps reduce blood flow by constricting blood vessels.

-Blocks pain and reduce swelling, redness and bruising.

What condition will benefit from cold therapy ?

- Joint sprains

- Muscle cramps

- Swelling of muscle/joint

- Fresh or new injury of the body

Safety tips:

-Both hot and cold pack can only be applied for maximum of 15 mins

-Avoid falling asleep as u might burn yourself

-NEVER use hot pack on swelling or bruising area

-Make sure to always avoid direct contact from hot/cold pack to your bare skin
